I have a 180l tank with stocking confirmed of
• a Bristlenose pleco
• a Bolivian ram
• an EBA
• 12 leopard danios
• 6 sterbai corydorras
And then hopefully a keyhole cichlid. Are there any other cichlids I could consider instead of the keyhole?

Is an EBA an electric blue acara? That's my best guess. What dimensions is your 180l? It's not a size I'm familiar with. If you have a lot (4++) of caves or similar, I see problems with 2 cichlid species & the BN pleco. Corys don't really understand territories, they just go wherever. But those other fish do. I'd think hard about adding another cichlid without more info & maybe some pics.

Yes an EBA is an electric blue acara, tank is 180l(1m,40cm,45cm). I’m planning on rearranging the tank but here’s a photo of it before my other ram died. Since then I have added some floating plants but they are new so not large. This was also something I wanted to know was how to make it better for the new tank mates and how to make more hiding spots. The ram and Bristlenose both have there spots. Bristlenose takes the driftwood and the ram occupies the left hand side of the tank. The plants are still growing so hopefully will give more space in the future.

Your stocking looks solid! If you’re open to alternatives to the keyhole cichlid, you could consider Apistogramma species, Rainbow cichlids (Herotilapia multispinosa), or another Bolivian Ram for a pair. Just avoid anything too aggressive, since your EBA is already the dominant cichlid.

Would you recommend, a single for any of the other species you have suggested? I am not getting another Bolivian ram as it caused major stress in both Bolivians. What apistogrammas could I consider.

I was gonna second the multispinosa, but he already got the EBA and keyhole. They’re very underrated, like small, peaceful trimacs. I bred them for while over the pandemic

You’ve got a solid stocking list! If you’re looking for an alternative to the keyhole cichlid, you could consider a curviceps cichlid (Laetacara curviceps) or a dorsigera (Laetacara dorsigera). Both stay peaceful and won’t disrupt your current setup. A single apistogramma could also work if you want something smaller. Just keep an eye on temperament with the EBA!

I can also attest to this: Dwarf Acaras are great, especially when they are a pair.

Sorry have been busy, tanks been going alrightish. New additions=6 yellow rainbowfish. However, the acara has been a bit of a bully so he might get rehomed and maybe the Bolivian ram as well and then get 3/4 more keyholes. Are keyholes aggressive breeders?
