I too tried neons in a 10G w/ a Betta... it lasted less than 45 minutes and I took them out after loosing one.

I agree about bettas and ghost shrimp. I put some in my male and female betta's tank, and in about a week they were gone. I didn't think they were going to eat them, but I figured it was good nutrition and exercise for them!

the only thing i've seen bettas not kill and eat are mollies/platys and goldfish.. every betta i've had ate/killed ghost shrimp, snails, and tetras. they even harass corys.
eventually i just gave up on bettas.

im not that worried about if they kill/eat the ghost shrimp they are like 20 for a dollar so no big loss if the betta does kill/attack the neons or what ever else i put in there i got another tank i can put them in. well thanks for all the info.

I keep ottos with mine. I kept corys with them in the past as a grow out for the corys. They only harass(d) them at feeding time.
