Cool. So what is your heat source? I'm going to guess that it's an UTH? Look forward to some pics of the little guy. :)

I've got a UTH but haven't hooked it up yet. The temp in the tank is at 75 degrees without the heater. The humidity went up to 80 pecent shortly after misting the moss. Is this alright for panther geckos?

That's a bit too high for them. 40-50% humidity is where you want it. Long term effects of humidity levels beyond that can result in respratory infections. You should only have to mist the cage lightly every other day as long as you have a moist hide.

The top not being screened seemed to be the problem. I opened it up shortly and the humidity dropped to 40 percent. I'll either be building a screen top or taking the lid and drilling tiny holes in it.

Yeah you're definitely going to want a screen top for proper air exchange and to keep the humidity levels down. If possible you can always cut a big rectangle out of the top and place some screen over it.

Cute little guy! Good luck with with him.

If you get a screen top, the temp will drop so you'll need to plug in the UTH. 75-80 is a good temp for them, and as VF said, 40-50% humidity. They are drop drinkers, so you may want to watch him. Sometimes they will drink from shallow water dishes, but if you see him looking skinny and dehydrated, you'll need to mist the cage more frequently. Other than that I think it's a very nice setup. Also being nocturnal, you won't need any special lighting unless you decided to replace the fake plants with live ones.
