Get some loaches or cory cats, they love to dig and will sift through your sand, you could get some oto cats aswell. or a chinese algea eater, but be warned, when older, the chinese algea eaters will stop eating algea and get aggressive, but you should be okay with them for a year or two. I'd say go for the loaches and coryadora I love 'em.
