What type of fish should I get?

I dont know much about the type of betta in question, but i do remember there being an article about it- try searching the forums!

I agree with the save the betta from the LFS plan. I have one in my 55 gal, and am going to take my 2.5 to work and put on in there...and may well put one in a 10 gal that I'm planning to set up and plant at home. YEssiree..rescuing bettas one fish at a time.
they are such beautiful fish, have such neat personalities. How they are treated in fish stores is an abomination.

Betta for sure with a tank that small. As for personality, I once had one that I hand fed slivers of frozen shrimp. He may not have recognized me as such but he seemed to appreciate my efforts to keep him happy at feeding time.

Possibly seperators/betta barracks? Anyways, still open to suggestions on fish!

Actually yes i do keep them in betta barracks.. actually i should prob change the 6 to a 5 my dearest Makai died yesterday. they are very interesting fish,
I still stick with the male betta idea, with a couple shrimp, and a snail(apple)

It seems that I am getting lots of 'male betta' responses. As owning two before, I know how to care for them so thats not a problem. However, you guys say save them one at a time... just curious why hasn't the two to three female bettas gotten any responses? Wouldn't I be saving two or three at a time instead of just one? :idea2:

Oh, and thanks for all the responses/advice everyone!

And you can't put more that one male beta in a tank. So I get one at a time as I set up a tank.

I am curious though...if you had say a 100 gal tank could you get away with more than 1 male betta? Would they establish their own territory, or would they still fight?
