It came free with an online fish order, so I tossed it in my kids betta tank. It’s growing pretty quickly

I wanna say Rotala indica, at least a Rotala species.

I agree with dougall, a rotala, probably indica. I had it grow well but not out of control with medium(ish) light, no co2 & mostly just fish poo as ferts. 1 of the easier stems, the tops look better near the lights, just trim & replant the prettier new growth as needed.

if you are really interested, you can take a cutting and concert that to emersed growth,

in my experience, it is far easier to distinguish that way based on the leaf shapes.

Fish poo as fert sounds perfect! I’m good at fish keeping, but I don’t exactly have a green thumb , so easier the better
Thanks

I’ll probably just let it do it’s thing, I’m not really into plants, I was just kind of curious what I had

But that's how the plant thing starts! (evil laugh) I prefer easy plants...but I must have some plants as part of the whole ecosystem. I belong to a plant club so I get to try many (or used to, pre Covid). When you can't have more tanks or fish, plants fill that "need to do something new" urge.

+1 it’s like coral and inverts in a reef tank and it helps the fish too so it’s a win win, my planted tank is looking awesome right now besides the cloudy water from the gravel i added
