I have a 5 gallon mini bow that i plan on putting a betta in...i went to my LFS and they said to use R/O water for the tank because my TAP IS BAD!!! even with prime or other de-chlorinators, even if i triple dose it still doesn't work!!

i thought you weren't supposed to use distilled or R/O cause there is not minerals....

CAN I USE PUBLIX BRAND SPRINGWATER, i tested it just for fun and it read

PH-7.8
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0

My tap water is

PH-8.5
Ammonia-4.0!!!
Nitrite- 2.0
Nitrate-20

Where do you live??? I'm staying clear :) JK

Boy, that's tough, one of the good things about most tap is that there is buffering capacity to help with pH that does not exist in RO water.

An idea - get regular bottle water from the grocery store and add a little baking soda to harden it a little. There's got to be a recipe out there somewhere for this.

The article I just posted talked about spring water - of course teh main drawback of that is cost.

A quick question - how did they test your water?

Yes, you can use PUBLIX BRAND SPRINGWATER. I think everyone with one exception has told you can use it. Don't do RO/distilled water. Trust your research that you did on your last post. As much as some LFS know they are only human. You have asked on here and you did research, trust your research not what one person said.

P.S. You really need to talk to you towns water department if your readings are that high.

wait seriously where do you live, and did thay say what was in the tap water that is bad for fish?

personally i would just use tap water. the pet store might just be trying to sell you something you don't need.
