What "Whisperer" are you?

I must second leopardess. I've stumbled upon several types of wild animals this year who needed help in one way or another. Lets see, 2 baby birds(a crow and a bluejay), and 4 turtles(one baby cooter, a large slider, and a big softshell). In the past few years, I've also rescued a little sparrow, some lizards(brown anole), moved bugs off the sidewalk in my local park so they won't get run over by bikes, and spiders that ended up in my bathroom. I love many creatures, so I guess I feel a need to show it. Of course if it's a roach, tick or flea in our house, their time is up if I run across them. There are just certain creatures that are a tad too risky to live with. While I can admire roaches for their resilience, I don't want to share my living spaces with them. :p:

Hahah Riso - I thought I was the only one who removes bugs from roads/sidewalks so they don't get squished! I HATE caterpillar season because whenever I'm walking, i feel obligated to stop every three feet and move them.

Or (and my husband and his family can second this), it's hard for me to enjoy their swimming pool because I have to save every stupid ant that falls in. :o

Direct from the PETA website, I give you "The Goldfish Whisperer!"

Quote:

"In 2004, the city of Monza, Italy, banned the keeping of goldfish in bowls because the containers do not meet the needs of the animals and because, as one sponsor of the law pointed out, bowls give fish “a distorted view of reality.

:D

I have to say I try to save all animals I find in need of help (except alligators) I have to draw the line on bugs and ants tho'. the ants we have here are fire ants and they are a non-native nasty invader that has taken over in the south. They have caused many species such as the horned toad lizard to be extinct or almost extinct. I poison them in my yard every chance I get! They sure have a nasty sting too. OUCH!

Of Course any roach must meet its end too.

I've only ever seen a roach once, and that was in Boston. Our ants here are pretty tame. I like 'em. I like the red ants less than the gold old black ones though - they're a bit feisty :P I despise spiders (YUCKKKK) but I won't kill them. Just make the hubby put 'em outside.

I will kill fleas though. ******** make me angry.

Leopardess, just move to Florida. You won't just see a roach you will most likely experience one too! Muahahahaha!

Oh, no no, Flying. I want to let the natives enjoy them all. I don't want to take anything away from them!

Yep, I save bugs too :thud: !! I even bought a special bug-catcher, so you can trap them in a little compartment to take them outside, but its also kind of cool b/c you can get a good look at them. The only thing I kill in my house are bees, we seem to get several in the house a year, and they aren't exactly easy to catch. Plus with my 3 dogs and 3 cats, I'm afraid one of them will get stung trying to catch it. My poor little jack russell got stung once, somewhere on her face and she swelled up so bad, she looked like spuds mckenzie. It was the saddest thing...

The only roach I've ever seen was in Costa Rica, it was huge, my husband and I were in a hotel in bed, and something caught my eye on the wall, it was a huge cockroach  Of course, the window near the ceiling was wide open when we got into the room, so I guess it was good it was only a roach :D

You should realize how lucky it wasn't the infamous Costa Rican Chupacabra!!

An fyi on roaches. You are better off taking them outside, weather you wish to kill it or not. If you squish it in your house, it is likely they are carrying eggs and you will release them into your living space, furthuring your infestation.
