What will clean this from my plants?

Nope not one of those at all.....but did you try that i hear it works wonders on all types of algae;)
Yes... I already tried that... ;)

Clithon corona is just one of several hundreds of nerite species.;)

ooooooo I C

That's good to know

If I get them ordered, 1 snail will cost me $11+
That's one of the reason I don't have any in my tank now is because they are so hard to find locally..

nerite snails wipe algae clean. also, for that type I would easily go with flying fox. i had beard algae problem that i got on the driftwood from another tank and it took over my plants and the whole driftwood, but flying fox took care of it once and for all. flying fox are interesting to watch too. they go for $2.00 each around here. interesting that nerite snails are one dollar each. i got 15 and love them, even though they cover my whole tank in eggs that will never make it.

Sounds like the Nerites are a must for a planted tank.

What about Cherry shrimp?

I have chery and yellow in a tank and I STILL have beard algae and hair algae so I don't think they are very effective at ridding algae. Jinkz sells the coronas and the nerites for two and three dollars a piece and usually shipping is no more than 6 or 8 bucks.

Algae happens. Having a tank completely free of algae is impossible. Algae is just a natural part of any environment. A good and healthy tank will only have a minimal amount of algae, such a small amount that the untrained eye wouldn't even notice it.

I say all of that, because, for the perfectionist, snails and shrimp are a perfectly legitimate way to eliminate that last bit of "unsightly" algae.

Nerites will pretty much eat any algae you have. However, having a tank full of 50+ nerites can be expensive, and let's face it, snails aren't that cool to have a tank overrun with them. However, shrimp are also awesome. Amano's are great for algae, but Red Cherries are nearly as good, and they are less expensive and will breed.

I find that a healthy shrimp population encourages the snails to work on areas of the tank that contain algae that the shrimp won't eat(like GSA and GDA). A good balance of shrimp/snails is really entertaining.
