fill aquarium with freshwater today, and add salt when i get it tomorrow, or add water and salt tomorrow?

if i fill it up tonight, and add the salt tomorrow, how long does it take for the salt to fully disolve in the water? how long can live rock survive with out water? because if the live rock can last a couple hours out of water, and the salt takes a few hours to dissolve ill buy the lr tomorrow, and put it in win the salt has fully disolved. any input on that?

thanks.

It takes at least 2-3 hours for the salt to desolve. I would wait to get the LR later. There is no use chancing it.

Ok, let me try to reply again grumble, grumble. I'd mix my water in a large plastic trash can etc. whatever as long as it's not metal and all you'll use it for is tank water. It's much easier to adjust s.q. in an empty container and you won't have to dipp out, add water and generally make a big old mess. I'd do the water first get it to 1.23 s.q and at least room temp," throw a heater and air stone into the can so you can get some air ciculation ". Use r.o. water to help reduce your algae bloom. Then go to the lfs and pick up you live rock. Put the live rock into the tank, make sure it's placed on the glass bottom and that it won't shift much you may have to glue or strap together with plastic ties. Then add sand or other material you want on the bottom of the tank. Place a bowl or someting on the sand to lower the length of time of your sandstorm and then fill with water.

I was going to recommend the trash can, i used to do that with my larger tank, and I should do it with this one. I havent had a chance to buy one yet. The salt needs to be 1.023. I'm sure it was a typo.
