what would happen?

Yeah there is a lot of Siphons that you just shake to get started if you're worried about getting some odd disease from your fish water.

Personally I think it's a load of crap.
Why don't you do some research? Use Google if that floats your boat.

People drink water that is far worse off than fish water everyday and there is no effect.
What kind of statement is that? Are there fish with active TB in the water these not-sick people are drinking?

You can't compare swallowing tank water with "bad" or polluted drinking/lake/whatever water. They will not have the same microbes/bacteria/virii in them nor in the same concentrations.

It's not the same thing, twig.

yea most ppl are immune to samonella by the age of 15 anyways.. LOL

Hardly....I do not know where you heard that, but you could not be more incorrect.

As far as aquarium zoonoses go, there are about 15 potential illnesses you can contract, with salmonellosis and Mycobacterium marinum being the more common. However, to be fair, I have probably mouthed and swallowed a good 20 gallons of aquarium water over the past 30+ years of siphoning (although none in a good decade and a half), and have not had so much as an upset stomach from it, which goes to the rarity of catching something. This is not to say that it does not occur, though...I know of one local aquarist that, likely via a small skin break on her arm, contracted Mycobacterium marinum from the water in a tank where she worked (a petshop), and now has several large, crater-like scars on her forearms as a permanent souvenir.
