What Would You Do?

I have a 20g FOWLR with two fish (flame angel and 8 line wrasse) and a dozen various hermits.

I also have a 10g with LR only (hospital tank/ use the cycled water for water changes in 20g).

Should I make the 10g a refugium for my 20g? How would I most easily do this?

What would you do to maximize health/ beauty of the tanks that I have mentioned?

few things...

what were you saying about water changes from the 10gallon?

q-t tanks shouldn't have live rock in them since copper based meds can easliy kill inverts, which live in live rock... and if you ever put that live rock somehwere else it will bring the copper with it.

if its a FOWLR tank I dont think you'll need a refugium. they will take nutrients out of the water and use it to grow the macro alge in that tank... which is a benifit but it wont change your fish... probably just cut back on algae if you have any.

what kind of filter do you have on the 20gallon? a fuge might help filter your tank if you lack in it now.

You can always add a refugium--they are a fine idea, but no matter what others say, the QT/hospital tank is an essential key to your success; keep it.

I guess the 10g is more of a quarantine tank. I haven't had any sick fish and don't plan on using any medications in either tank. The 10g is just a LR tank for now. I don't have any immediate plans to stock it, and was wondering if it might be better used as an add on to my 20g.

The 20g is filtered by an Aquaclear 20 and a 30. I have a power head for extra water flow. I don't have a protein skimmer, and am not sure how much I really need one. I have a little over 20 lbs of live rock and a crushed coral/ live sand substrate. I have two lights with an 18 watt actinic and an 18 watt 50/50.

Is there anything that I am missing or should this be good for a 20g FOWLR?
