I'm undecided on whether to get an Oscar or a Red Devil. Out of your experience, which one is better to own?

It depends on what tank you have and what type of tankmates you want to keep.
I like the personality of an oscar better, but I have seen some awesome looing RDs.

To me the Oscar will have alot more personality than a Red Devil....if you are planning on keeping anything else with them then def. dont get a Red Devil.

Whichever one I get, it'll be alone. No other mates.

I've had RD's in the past and IMO, my oscar is much more responsive to me. He's constantly begging for attention. Out of all of my fish, he is my favorite.

Just out of curiosity, what size tank?

60 Gal.
I'm looking for the one with more personallity.

Well, RD's will just charge at the glass out of aggression (most times hitting their mouths or head on it) whenever you get too close (according to the RD of course).

The Oscar will come up to the glass (not really slamming into it) and seemingly interact with you. Rather than aggression, I think this is just conditioning to seeing people and more times than not, also getting a meal.

I hand feed my juvie oscars and they bite my fingers, which is neat. I've never had a RD before, but my brother-in-law does, and I still think they're both great fish.

Either way, a single specimin will look great in a 60g.

Both are cool fish but in my experience oscars will interact more with you and not be quite as aggressive toward you.
