Whats cheaper???

There's always Craigslist, too. Post an "aquarium stand wanted" listing.. you might get lucky. People do have stands with no tanks they'd like to get rid of... I don't know why, but they do.

or you can learn how to weld like me and make a steel stand, and cover it with wood
something tells me that ain't gonna happen
lol

I will look for something used but try to get my act together maybe can build something.

Thanks all!!!

and alwasy look fro trim' on sale , sometimes you can find a nice pc on clearance, and that makes a tank stand look really well built like furniture' . I always like to have trim on the bottom of my canopy, and on the top of my stand *( to hide the trim ((black trim )) of the tank ) It also makes it look very very good . cheaper I dont think is ethier way, really unless you find a stand used, and paint it , add trim to it , thats cheaper, OR finding yoru matierals like I metioned on clearance , or a decent sale at lowes or home depot . good luck !! ~

well since I am not building something for a fish tank the size of the titanic I am thinking building would be way cheaper. Just for the wood material is 13.00 I have the 4 inch screws and I actually have tons of paint and stain. So even if I lined this with metal (lol which I am not) I think it would be cheaper. I saw a stand at Walmart that was not only gouged(and they wouldn't give me a deal on) it was made outta crap particle board for almost $70. So unless I went with a metal frame this is going to be way cheaper. Once I finalize my drawings I can scan and show ya what I am thinking.

thanks all

Drawings.. like, pencil and paper? Join us here in the 21st century and check out Google's SketchUp if you haven't before. It's quite easy to use, really helps me visualize the relationship of parts when designing something.

HA actually yes with a pencil and paper. I left my stone and chisel in my other cave. lmao actually I have seen Google Sketch and all though it is a great tool I prefer using my hands to draw instead of pointing and clicking as you I am sure prefer not to. Ahh such is life you will have to wait for a scan if you choose to see.
Thanks ;)

I have spent hours trying to learn that and no luck so I stick with the trusty non-automated sketching device and sketching device receiver.

well I found that building is way cheaper than actually making a purchase! This DIY tank stand is only costing me what I shell out for paint...since my paint colors in house wont work. lol That pen and paper know how to work it!

You can see the stand and tank in the gallery section of the forums....

and if I can link it properly this should work?!?!
