What's my angelfish eating?

I got an angelfish for my tank today. Acclimated well, seems pretty comfortable. I was a little worried abou the tetras nipping it, but the angel chased around my whole school of tetra for a minute, and now they all get along.

When I fed my fish tonight (some flake and some dried shrimp), the angel totally ignored the food. But, it has been going around nipping at all my plants -- is it actually eating plant material?

I'm not really worried, I'm sure it's pretty normal for a fish not to eat the first day it's introduced to a new tank... but I am currious as to why it's nipping at the plants if it's not going to eat!

Firstly, LOL @ the Angel chasing the tetras...I had a problem with my guppies, but they didn't stop chasing and wearing out the new fish, so they have all been put into a tank on their own to get on with it! Atleast ur Angel showed them it wasn't going to be bullied, a good sign I guess!

I know that Angels like live food, maybe the shrimp and dried food didn't appeal, or that it needs time, like you say, to settle down before feeding. My Molly's, when I got them, preferred chomping at the plants, and they still tend not to eat the food I give, but eat from the rocks and stones.

I know you can get this dried food, that sort of hangs on the side of the tank in a little net/basket, and once it gets wet, it lets off these wormy things, for Livefood eaters, to eat. Can't remember what it's called though!

An Angel fish will be the last thing I buy, my fish are far too happy reproducing, and I don't want the fry to be eaten!

Depending on what angel it is and the size, foods they like vary, i have 2 Zebra angels, smallish, they will eat anything varosously (spelling?), i have a large Golden vaiety angel that wont eat anything thats given to him, he would rather go and find bits from the bottom, ot find a snail or two, he wont eat tabimin, flake, blood worms, maybe brine shrimp but that has to be discovered yet. Ok first off how big is your angel? Small tetras are their natural prey. They were probably picking at him because it sounds like you have a large school and they saw him as a threat and were trying to set the tone. When he gets bigger they will make tasty nighttime snacks. In the wilde angels live in the dark reeds and near the base of tree stumps etc where their black and silver coloration helps them fade out of sight so now doubt he will be munching on your tetras. I remember going through this a long time ago my angels at about 3 or 4 inches made snacks out of my neaons. Anyhow, are the plants decaying at the edges? Sometimes they will tug at it, maybe even eat it a little, but I'm sure in time he will eat - they like their food give him a little bit of time to come around
