I have had a 20G tank for almost two months, but every time I add fish to it in about two weeks or less they die. I have checked the ph levels and the nitrates and all the good stuff I have two dwarf Guaramis two white clouds that have survived this whole ordeal and two plecostomus that are survivors also. I have tried to get what I have read and heard are somewhat hearty fish like platys and mollies but it was unsuccessful. Please help I am lost

Can you post all your levels? It could be that the fish are kept in different conditions in the store, and can't acclimate to your tank - as an example, my 65g is kept at a pH of 6.6 (it's a planted tank with CO2); the LFS where I usually get my fish keeps their stock at 7.4 - 7.6 (typical Toronto tapwater), so if I get new fish I have to acclimate them slowly to avoid shocking them.
It's also possible you're getting sick or weak stock, as Valerie said.

I have the same problem as blinky, when i first got started i lost a few fish that way...try drip acclimating them it works pretty well.

heres how to do it:

1. Pour or net fish placing them in a clean bucket of some kind along with some of the LFS water ( about 1/4 to 1/2 of the bucket full)

2. Get a bit of airline tubing and tie a knot in it.

3.Start a siphon going through the tube ( either put the end that goes into you tank in the output of a powerhead or internal canister filter). Then place the other end of the tubing in the bucket with the fish along with some stress coat. Once the bucket is pretty much full put the fish in either your Q tank or display tank.

It also helps if you put an airstone in with the fish to help both aerate and stir the water.

This is the method i use both at work and at home which works really well. It has also reduced losses both at work and at home.
