what's special about your aquarium? (c'mon, share!)

What is MTS?
MTS=malaysian trumpet snails. OR multiple tank syndrome (which many on here suffer from)

My 1850g tank actual volume (152L*80W*40H inches) is in my living room set into a wall with a 152L*44H inch viewing window. The filter is in in the basement so the living room is soo quiet
pictures please, i am very interested :)

Whats special about my setup? I like the fact that my fish shoot up to the surface to take a gulp of air and then either shoot back down, or float down really slowly.
And i like the fact that they will grow to be monsters :)

in that context probably means Malaysian Trumpet Snails, though it usually means multiple tank syndrome :D

Eh Spartan beat me to it...

well my tank (10 gallon) has only plants in it right now.

That is so incredibly awesome! What do you keep in there?

anyway, back to topic:
My tanks are all special because I got a betta, then mom let me get a "real" tank (18g); I have worked up to a 40g (i know, still pretty small) and 80 something fish, i do believe.
All because of a betta! :P

Edit: Not all 80 fish are in the 40. lol

I raised my RBP's since they were the size of quarters, now they are approx 5 inches. Not as impressive as egg raised though. No diseases, no fighting, no problems. That, I am proud of considering how many feeders they eat....

I have too many fish name and I plan on reducing the numbers a little. I have mainly new world cichlids with tinfoil barbs ,long nose clown tetras, clown loachs(almost 20cm)and assorted Characins .Although my dovii is my pride and joy. Btw its main filter an algae turf scrubber.

What a nice idea, great thread!
What's special about my tanks? Let me see...

My 65g is the result of a process of evolution - I started ~15 years ago with a 35g, 36" long tank. It cracked (long story). I replaced it with a 45g, because it had the same footprint as a 35g and fit the stand. After my beloved oscar died, I couldn't decide what to do with it. Eventually, I decided to fill it with (plastic) plants and small fish. I started to resent the plastic plants after a while - my fish cut themselves on them, they grew algae, and looked... plastic. About five months ago I took the plunge and went planted. I quickly discovered that a tank with a 12" x 36" footprint doesn't really lend itself to aquascaping - I had no middleground. The tank looked a little old and tired, and I wanted something larger that would fit into our 'nook'. I decided another 36" long tank would be best, so I wouldn't have to change my lights, and wanted to stay below 75g so I could keep my FilStar XP2 and not have to upgrade. I went with a 65g, and I absolutely love the new tank It suits me, looks great in my living room, and brings me endless hours of happiness.

My 14g is a great little tank, it has a unique stand, that I made myself - the tank sits on a shallow wooden tray on top of a cabinet. The tray is filled with sand, with two small potted plants on one side, and my 1g pico on the other. Every time someone enters the room, the cherry barbs rush to the front to greet them.

My 10g is home to wood shrimp, and nothing else - it's captivating. The tank itself is in need of some aquascaping and looks boring from a distance, but the shrimp are amazing creatures to watch.

My 1g is really special to me. I ordered a beautiful cube vase from a florist, searched all over the city for the perfect Anubias nana, and started my first pico. It's a challenge trying to dose ferts and keep such a small environment balanced. I think what I like most is it gave me an excuse to buy a Red Sea nano filter, quite possibly the cutest filter ever created ;)

I think all our tanks are unique, and special. Everyone here pours his or her heart into their tanks, no wonder we love them :D

What's special about my tank?...hmm

Beats the livin' hell outta me.

My tank is special because it was given to me, when I wanted to buy a bit bigger, but saved me alot of money. It is my first attempt at a planted tank. Its brought me alot of frustration, as well as pleasure. The fish are thriving, the plants are thriving, and now I'm starting up a second tank with an oriental theme, white clouds and a betta and alot of Asian plants. This tank is in my kitchen so I'm never without my fishy friends around me.

I still have 2 of my origional starter fish, 2 platys.
