Hello everybody! About 3 weeks ago, I got a male Dwarf Gourami from Petsmart and he was doing fine. About a week ago, I noticed that he had a little bump on the right edge of his jaw and I thought that it will go away soon. But now, I'm worried about it. It's a bump on the right side of his jaw and when you look down at the tank from above, you can see that a scale is sticking out. But other than that, he looks very healthy.

He gets a diet of live bloodworms every day and a sprinkle of flake food every other day. His tankmates are 6 neon tetras, 2 African Dwarf Frogs, and 2 Kuhli Loaches in a 10 gallon tank along with about 10 Ghost Shrimp. I've had the tank for about 1 month now as a tropical tank, but had 2 goldfish for 2 months before that. Temperature is at 78 degrees Farenheit, Parematers are good, and no fish has died or fallen ill in the tank.

Can anybody tell me what it is, is it lethal, and if there is a cure, what is it? :help:

it may be some kind of cyst or somehitng, maybe a little stress coat and some time will fix it

Bloodworms daily...I wouldn't recommend that because I've had a bad experience with feeding bloodworms daily. They can introduce parasites to the fish, since they are live and haven't been treated with anti parasitic chemicals and what not. Also they should be given more as a treat, maybe once or twice a week.

The frozen ones are better but make sure they stay frozen, and thaw them in tank water before giving them to the fish. I lost nearly all my 15 congos to bloodworms. They lost color, got bloated and died.

I think certain fish are my subsceptible to this type of disease, because my pearl gourami ate them and hasn't died. *knock on wood*

I already condition the aquarium water with Stress Coat though. I originally thought it was a tumor.

Digital: It might be the bloodworms, but I feed my ADFs and Kuhli loaches bloodworms and they are fine. Don't forget I alternate with flake food too.

I would agree on getting more varieties food. At petsmart and co you can easily find mysis and a pack called "Freshwater Multipack".

You might want to clarify that you put the goldfish in a pond or people might jump down your throat :)

But this thread isnt about that, is it? So Im sorry for posting that here.
