bettas and cories

Male Bettas are outrageously exotic-looking and beautiful fish considering how easy they are to keep. I think that combination is hard to beat. AND they are more interactive and have more personality than most other fish.

They're not the easiest to integrate with other tankmates, but mine seems to have no problems with otos and amano shrimp.

corydoras sterbai are also attractive, relatively hardy fish. They're pretty cute, don't get too big, and are pretty active.

Its a tie for me between killifish, discus, and zebra danios.

how about the Orange Spotted Sunfish
they live in almost any water
they get about 4" long
they show breeding colors when kept in pairs or more (and water is 75 F)
they eat floating food (for better fish health add worms and bugs)
they do not molest plants

they are a North American Native fish species that are very common in the south east.

I think beauty has more to do with the total package - personality, grace, colors, shape, benevolence & smarts. So the one fish that can really make you look at her every day and think "****, shes a beauty" is a good Arowana.

I like the purple-red ones.

Totally agreed, arowanas are extremely graceful, arrogant and beautiful.

But, many of the ones on arofanatics (yes the purple-red ones too) are taken under special lights that bring out extreme colors, very different than the fishs natural color
