I was just curious i am inheriting a 100 gallon aquarium for free, but its just the aquarium no filters heater etc. I will have to buy all that stuff but anyway i was just wondering the yearly cost including power cost water cost and materials cost please let me know

The sort of rough estimate you are looking for is generally available for equipment and startup costs. Maintenance costs are a very different matter.

I mean - how could anyone even begin to calculate this for you when they are lacking the most rudimentary information? Electricity rates are extremely variable depending on where you live (you don't disclose this info - and it can vary from county to county). Do you have a private well, or do you pay for water? Filters and lighting vary widely, you can get a 50 watt Fluval FX5 or an undergravel filter with a 4 watt air pump. You can use a 30ish watt 48" fluorescent tube or 216ish watts of T5 lighting. Your heater will need to kick on more often if you live in Massachusetts than if you live in Florida...etc...

I understand that when you buy a water heater, it tells you how much it's going to cost you per year to run - but aquariums aren't appliances. There are so many variables to consider, that hashing out even the most ballpark figure is tricky...it's impossible without any info other than the size of the tank.

Figure out what equipment you are getting for the 100 gallon aquarium, the cost of a KWH (kilowatt hour) where you live - it should be clearly stated on your electric bill - and we can go from there.

lol ok i know the equipment im getting for it im getting 2 75 gallon foster and smith power filters and for the heater im going with a marineland visi-therm 400w and some airstones but ill have to get back to you on the rate for my electricity though

Honestly, It won't impact you greatly if you stick with a non planted, or a low light tank. the best bet would be to decide what you want to keep for fish (fresh or salt) (aggressive or community) and your costs will change. Freshwater costs A TON less than salt water, and brackish is a good happy medium. If you have to purchase live food (puffer fish, ect.) then your cost will also rise. High maintenice planted tanks are the most expensive freshwater.

Please decide what kinds of fish you want, and then we can go from there

I dropped a G on a 30 G in 6 months. Then transfered it all to an 80 G and spent so far another 500.
You can go basic and DIY everything and will be alot less expensive.
You can also start small/basic and build over time where you don't feel the pocketbook pinch hehe

what do you mean diy i am already getting the tank and stand for free what else can i do myself that will save me money ?

well you can mix your own fertilizer, make your own co2 injection system..
theres 2 I can think of off the bat
