Not all glassfish are brackish. This one can do fine in purely FW. There is also a humphead glassfish discovered last year that is found in soft acidic waters with some microrasboras.

Is this species one of those that becomes extremely nippy without a school? Sort of like Tiger Barbs?

They shouldn't. Although a lot of schooling species will become restless without a group.
