What's wrong w/ white block weekend feeders?

I've had the best luck with the auto feeders. Any of the white sea shell looking blocks or the tetra round slabs you put in I've just had to fish out afterwords and they were untouched.
Remember, in the wild these guys can go weeks without a decent meal. They don't have a feast just laid out for them one or two times a day.

auto feeders are fine... it's user error that makes them unreliable ime. it does take some time to get used to them but i use mine almost exclusively... other than veggies, etc..

i agree with the general consensus on block feeders on principle alone.

either way your fish likely don't HAVE to eat that week as long as they're healthy and well fed before you leave.

i have a tank in my office at home that i use a auto feeder on, got it from petco for a $1.50 on clearance, thought it was a joke but it turned out the only tank that gets feed on sunday (when im at the dog park from sun up to sun down) is that tank so i recommend them all the way

That's good to hear. Do you use it on a daily basis or just when on vacation?

Oh, good god. I enjoy seeing my fish devour blood worms too much. The reason I'm not using my regular house sitter is cöz she'll be out of town too. But after all this I'm thinking about taking them to Italy w/ me. :frog:

:omg: Taking your fish to Italy???

Wait, or did you mean your sitter? :duh:

Been gone for over 3 weeks without feeding the fish...a week without food is just fine...;)

:22_yikes::omg: You starved your fish for a 3 WHOLE WEEKS?!?!? Someone call PETA!

Okay.. seriously though... they can go 2-3 weeks just fine without food. don't sweat it.

I had a customer use the Tetra one linked. He really liked it and reported no water quality problems.

Haven't used it myself.
