Okay, might sound stupid, but I was just wondering if fish could get nose-bleeds? Or infections in the nostrils? Cause my female angelfish nostrils are bright red, looks like she's bleeding on the inside of her nose. It's been like that for a couple weeks now, but I've just noticed it seems to be bigger than what it was.
She's still eating and looks alright, but I'm just worried that she might be sick or managed to injure herself somehow.
She's in a small tank with my betta's Steel, Duchess, Tempest and Polly, And the tank gets cleaned once every week or two.

Any ideas on why her nose is red and why its spreading? She's a pretty little fish and I really don't want to lose her, too much character in her for her to die. Any ideas at all will be helpful, thanks.

small tank with lots of inhabitants that gets cleaned every week or two..

what size tank and how are you cleaning the tank?

if you have a heavy stocking for the tank try doing water changes several times per week.

angels are relatively hardy but they can be a bit sensitive to poor water quality(I'm not saying the water is bad but maybe not pristine enough)

red around any orafice may not be good but it may happen in light colored angels as they may have a 'blushing' appearance in some juveniles. this usualy goes away as they grow and the adult colors show up.

Been a few weeks now and my angelfish is looking good.
There'd been no aggression from those particular bettas at all. Not sure how big the tank was, but she's been moved to one of her own now. Think the one she was in was 1.5 to 2 Litres, maybe bigger.
The tank she is in now is smaller, about 1L, she's a juvenile Black Lace and is only 6cm long, 8cm high, max. I changed her diet and now change her water twice a week, more if it is really needed.
The red has cleared up, her colouring now gone back to normal and she's starting to look more like a Black Lace, but I'm still keeping an eye on her in case the it returns.

Thanks for the help

I am glad the angel is doing better, but you should seriously consider at least a 29 gal tank for it.

Is this a heated/filtered tank? Or is this a "betta bowl?" As rbishop stated above, angels do need a minimum of a 29 gallon tank to thrive. 1-2 liters will not hold off an angel for long at all... and keeping the fish in an environment as such for any prolonged duration may result in the untimely death of the fish. I wouldn't consider 2 liters to be more than a 2 hour holding container for transport between tanks myself. The 4 bettas you have... were all 4 of them and the angel all together in the 2 liter tank? If so are the bettas male or female? If you have 4 males, well, I'm glad to see that none have been killed yet, but they are very territorial fish, and will frequently fight to the death.
