Hello all....I have a teenage Tiger Oscar and an adult Jaguar. For the past 5 days, I noticed that the Jag was lying on his side and not eating. Every once in a while he would chase some of the other fish around for a minute or two and then go and lie down again. Today, I'm noticing that he's REALLY lying on his side FLAT. I saw that he was scratching himself on the rocks so I treated the tank for 3 days with quick cure and then did a 75% water change. Today the Oscar is doing the same thing. I don't know what's wrong with them. Do they have dropsy? I really don't want to lose these two. Can anybody diagnose what's wrong and then suggest the proper meds for them?

All within ranges. I did a 75% change yesterday and the temp in the tank is a steady 85

"All within range" covers a lot of ground. Quick Cure's not going to cure ich in 3 days and I doubt that was the problem anyway. Why is the temp so high?
The signs they're showing are usually related to water quality. How long have those 2 fish been together in the tank and how long has the tank been set up? Any new filters or anything? Anything been removed or added?
If you can give us you ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings & tank size, etc.

:iagree: This does not sound like symptoms of ich to me.....If you can, please do provide the specific ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings as I believe these symptoms are usually due to water quality. I hope you are able to save your boys.

I agree, you are frying those fish with 85 degree water. The fish may have internal parasites and likely has permanent swim bladder damage, which prevents the fish from swimming upright. My guess is - that unfortunately there's probably too much damage and you're not going to cure the poor guy. Try some parasite meds if you like, lower the temp to 79 or 80 and good luck.

UPDATE:

Treated the tank for 3 more days with quick cure and did two very large water changes. Bought the water temp down to 80 and they are both now eating, swimming and fighting each other like they were before the illness. The temp was up to 85 so that when the parasites were in the free swimming phase, the temp would kill them, and it did.
