Can anyone tell me whats going on with this 1 plant of mine. The leaves are looking really puny (almost see thru) and a lot of them have these huge brown splotches. Is there a certain nutrient that its not getting enough of? Ive been staying on top of the dosings, and as far as I know, Ive given my plants everything they need. I have the 2x55w Bright Kit from AH supply.

I use Seachem stuff:

Flourish
Flourish Excel
Flourish Iron
Flourish Nitrogen
Flourish Potassium
Flourish Phosphorous

Hooray for sand and live plants!

oh yeh, i also forgot to add - a lot of my bigger leafy plants have very brittle leaves, and some are even breaking clean off from the gentle water current (looks like someone cut them with scissors)... Im assuming it's because they are dead? But I cant figure out why! Im upset because I thought I've been doing everything possible to keep my plants happy and growing

thats happening to my crypts right now too, I'll try and get a pic of it. my wpg is 1.3. there all low light plants and the lights are on for at least 12 hours a day. Its in the middle of a cycle right now; coarse sandy substrate.

How much light do you have? Do you supplement with CO2? What is the GH and pH of your water? What kind of substrate do you have? Do you use substrate fertilizer tabs of some sort?

I just got them a few days ago. no co2 yet will do that soon though. ph is 6.9, coarse sand subsrate, no fertilezer right now. light is 1.3 wpg

you can expect some die-off when you get new plants most of the time.
They are accustomed to a certain amount of light/co2/nutrients, and its not uncommon for them to falter a bit when introduced to a new environment, normally it just takes 2-3 weeks for them to get back on track and start the growth of new leafs to fill in.

I have 2 watt/gallon (just put in the 2x55w Bright Kit from AH supply last week, the day after i got my plants). My water params as of yesterday were:

pH = 7.6
NH3 = 0
NO2 = 0
NO3 = 15ppm

I dont have gH or kH test. My tank is a 55g with an AC500 filter. I dont have root tabs atm, but Im headed to the LFS to get some today. Fish = 4" pictus cat and 4" oscar. I have pure sand substrate.

HTH, thx for the input!
