whats wrong with this picture?

Oh I know... its awful.
At petcetera they advertize a 1 gallon aquarium with a picture of like, 12+ neon tetras on it.
No wonder people get the wrong idea sometimes.

I was just browsing for a tank for my nephiew and came accross that. I have always thought Dr f&s to be good about giving good advice. I have to assume they just used the pic. on the aquarium box. I e-mailed them suguesting they take one out of the box and photo with more suitable inhabitants. GRRRRRRR!!

Just like most retailers, they dont write their own ads or provide their own pictures. The manufacturer's do.

You are right, sumthin fishy....that tank is woefully understocked..hehe

On their recent catalog they have an Oscar in a very small tank.

fish product companies are awful when it comes to snagging a newbie.ever see that show on cbs where tetras company sent someone to show the general public''the ease of saltwater fish keeping''. the woman set up a 5 gallon bowfront with water and just dumped in a blue tand, 2 perc clowns , a brittle star and a seahorse if i remenber corectly. thay is tottlaly ignoring even the basics of fish keeping like cycling, stocking limits and ll. the wort part is that she didnt even mention salt added to the water. believe tetra company and cbs got tons of email frm outraged aquarists everywhere. no need to mention i have never bought products from tetra again.

I signed up for Tetra Care Emails when I started my first tank (there was a pamphlet about it in the tank kit.) The emails are supposed to guide you through the beginning few months of fish keeping. I was shocked at the poor information, and the suggestion to use chemical solutions rather than regular water changes. I'm so glad I found AC before I got sucked into believing that garbage!
