If I was to start over again I would definitely go with cichilds.

just buy a 20 long and get rid of the mollies and fancy tetras

then start the 55 as cichlids:drool:

im thinking of turning my 55g into a african peacock or tropheus tank when i move my stock to a 90g

My 55 has 7 jewel cichlids, two pictus catfish, and one bristlenose pleco and they all get along fine. The jewels are beautiful and have amazing colors. They get a bad rep and they dont act that aggressively towards each other in my tank, as long as they respect each others territories everyone gets along fine. Sometimes they have sum mock battles and their amazing to watch. But no fins have ever gotten torn and they just seem to get along. They are adult size too, about 5-6 inches,and I have had them for over a year. You just have to have alot of hiding places and plants for them to retreat too and chill out in. When everyone has a little bit of territory they all get along.
