My all time favourite was a marble angel that lived by herself in a heavily planted 29 gallon tank. She refused to eat any food unless I hand fed her. If I just put the food into the tank she would just stare at me until I served it to her. She was the queen of her realm.
My second favorite are my Boeseman's rainbows. These guys attack food at feeding time and splash water all over the place. The gradkids love them because they allways get splashed. It's good for a few giggles :lol2:
I would have to pick Koi Angelfish (Pterophyllum sp.) because my would let me hand feed, and went crazy when I would put some Drosophila melanogaster (Fruit flies) on the surface of the water.
Although I have never had one, I really like German Blue Ram (Papiliochromis ramirezi) because of their coloration and activity level.
How about for an Honorable Mention? Harlequin Rasbora (Rasbora heteromorpha) & Tiger Hillstream Loach (Sewellia lineolata)
My favorite fish is Lucille -- Ms. Fatty to her friends. Lucille is my HUGE female albino cory. Second favorite is Oliver, my clown pleco. He is my oldest fish, at roughly 8 years of age.
As for favorite type of fish -- right now I'm partial to my featherfin rainbows just because they're so sleek and elegant looking. Also, I'm really partial to my otos.
Swordtails, i haven't had any yet but just from day one they were my fav.
Red tailed shark, they are just so cool, and i just love the way they swim around on the bottom as if they are big bad predators.
1. Pearl Gourami, a little flashy and a good centerpiece, yet totally peaceful and safe with small fish. They are also the hardiest of the Gourami's that I have tried (the only kind that has ever lived for more than a couple of weeks)
2. Corydoras of any kind, cute little wiggle butts that don't bother anybody or plants!
1. Satanoperca juruparu is my fav. I impulse bought one when I saw him picking up sand and sifting it through his gills, fun personality and just beautiful.
2. Syno. Euruptus(sp) -featherfin- had 2 of these, beautiful fish and just stunning when they come out at night, fins fully erect and cruise the bottom like a shark. My biggest one was particularly funny. He claimed his territory under a piece of raised diftwood and would allow NO one under it..except my medium sized rainbow shark, it was like his little buddy. 8" fat catfish and skinny 5" rainbow pair haha.
