What's your Favorite fish?

favorite aquarium fish (that I currently own): golden dojo loaches! What other fishes are inquisitive, fearless, love to sit in my hand, AND feel as soft as a baby's butt? :)

favorite wild fish: buffalo sculpin. When you take them out of the water, they flare out their impressive "horns" that are actually some gnarly head and opercular spines. AND they make a rumbling, burping sound in your hand :D I like the solid black morph.

Other fav's: bright lime green tidepool sculpins, and silverspotted and sailfin sculpins for the way they swim. Also quillfish - I personally caught 3 of the less than 20 live specimens ever recorded!

I gotta echo Cheech, there are so so many... I could go on about this all day.

its so hard to choose just one. my dwarf puffers are probably the one though. right behind them are my rainbows, and gourami's

I'm with rsanz and would absolutely love to have a mandrin, the colouration on these fish is just insane. However, even if I could care for one, I don't know if I'd buy one - well maybe not form a LPS/LFS anyway, as I do not like the idea of suporting the collection and selling of a fish that is most likely going to die in captivity.

man, I LOVE plecos of all kinds! it makes me cry to see how many are abused so. :( people really need to lose that sterotype about them, and see them for what they really are.

I'm with Yo on this one....gotta love the Clown Loaches!!
Although, I'll always have a soft spot for Pacus too! ;)

My favorite has got to be the Mandarin Dragonet...I hope to one day be able to keep one...but they are so demanding. Baby steps. I'll get there eventually, but for now, I'll take good care of my single Dwarf Gourami. :)

Here's a picture of the psychadellic beauty that is the Mandarin Dragonet:

You chose my favorite as well. I kept one in a 55g with way too much liverock for over 3 years. The rock came from a friend that broke his tank down after about 7 years, so the pod population was out of control. The mandarin had plenty of food and he thrived because of it. They're not at all difficult to keep, so don't be afraid of them from that perspective. Just have a tank with massive pod populations and you'll do fine. Don't let the mandarin be your first or even your 20th sw fish though. They're too beautiful to waste.

though i will admit, that Mandarin Dragonet is amazingly gorgeous!

that's a tossup. I love my Arowanas, but the way my siniperca chuatsi follows me and give everyone in the room a shower during feeding time is just awesome.
