What's your favorite top-dwelling fish?

i don't keep my hatchets in a tank with a lid, never have. Not saying its a good idea, but i haven't had a jumper. I use alot of floating plants (pennywort, water lettuce, creeping jenny) and keep them in larger tanks (75gish) which seems to help. They are also with very calm tankmates.

hatchets are a good idea if you have a tight-fitting lid.

personally, i like platies quite a bit. they are colorful, easy to breed, hardy, and literally one of the few perfect community fish.

i would stay away from opaline gouramis though. not only do they not get along with others of their own species, but they do not mix well with others. opalines (and the like) have been known to bully smaller tankmates.

yeah, i wouldn't get any gouramis with what i have now. i do love them, though. :3

hatchets are always a great option :) (well, almost always)

This monster is my favorite

To bad I can't keep em.... I use to have one (before I knew better) I had no clue they were preditors.

These are my choice. Half beaks. There are 2 different types here, Borneo Tribal Red Line and Wrestling. Both are top dwellers and very easy to keep.

This is the more common wrestling 1/2 beak. I like them both because they remind me of mini barracudas.

My favorite would be silver arowana, just love their potential size and their ability to grab stuff from the trees high out of the water. Not for your tank but you asked what my favorite was lol.

I would say one of the smaller "false gars" they look cool and like the top of the tank quite a bit.

hatchets fish i would say they are perfect top dwellers but a good tight lid cover is always recomended for such good jumpers.

My personal favorites are arowanas and african butterfly fish.

But to help you out on your list. Mollies, gouramis, bettas and danios all good communial interactions as top-dwellers.

mollies and danios will move throughout the stratas, so I don't think they could be considered top dwellers. Bettas and other abanatoids (spelled wrong, but who cares?) are good top dwellers though.
