What's Your Most Frustrating Tank Experience?

When I had to sell them because I was moving.

i wouldnt say that i have given up, but i had a bolivian ram that i just could not get to eat (some of you may remember from the chat a while back). he had a great personality and great color, and did not seem stressed at all. he just wouldnt eat anything. the funny thing is, despite the fact that he didnt eat anything, he lived in my tank for 6 weeks.

the day I came home to find 90 g my full blown reef tank dieing, water was turning into jelly (as strange as that may sound), everything died. Every tube was blocked, corals were all closed and dieing, fish were dead, bristle worms were trying their best to crawl our of their hiding places. . .

What happened, you ask? My dad was curious to see what would happen if he put a live clam under the sandbed. this was weeks prior.

It died, and it's rotting corpse messed everything up.. Had to tear down the tank .

Wow...parents...

Trying to get my two rena filstar xp3s to start up cause the tubing was too long (it was used, previous owner apparently decided not to trim the tubing) and it kept spilling!

Green water when I lived in Maine and no internet. I had to rely on the LFS (one person and a tranformed heated garage) and word-of-mouth from coworkers for advise. No where near as bad a the clam or the leak..........yikes, how awful.

nothing so bad yet but just this morning a friend of mine's 50 gallon leaked about half of its self all over her bedroom floor cause the stand her father built for her was uneven!

My 20 Gal also sprung a leak over night, only it lost all of its water. I lost 6 tiger barbs and 1 clown loach. Some how my Firemouth(Which I still have) survived and a 1 clown loach which passed away a weak later. Having to scramle to get the fish into a buck was very stressing, since this happened at 3 AM. I had to reseal the thing like 5 times before it would hold water.

Lol, that reminds me of my experience when my tank sprung a leak.

38 gallon. First I thought it was my eheim because it was wet when I had my hand near the base during my first inspection. However, I found out it was my tank. Spilled half of it onto the carpet. My incident happened at 11 and I was going to mess around with my gf until I found out about the leak. So I was frustrated about the tank and slauxely (jumbled) :perv: frustrated as well :angryfire:. So I was up for two hours with a big towel trying to suck up all the water from the carpet. What made it worse was my gf's constant whinning and pet names.

"I'm busy!!"
"Come to bed rainbow bear"

She was having fun watching me and I was annoyed out of my mind lol. I love her though but women are evil no matter which way you look at it.

So I had to scoop all my fish out, take all my plants out as well, and suck out all the water and carry the tank out BY MYSELF.

The carpet smelled like crap for the next week, had to shampoo it 3x :wall:.
I almost gave up on the whole planted tank thing right then and there, but I knew I had a mission and a man ALWAYS completes it.
