When can i add plants

mulm is the organics left after the bacteria have done thier work on poop.

the layer of waste that settles out in your bucket after you gravel vac your older tank.

Just add the mulm and peat to a substrate on the bottom and thyen not do the fishless cycling thing, add lots of plants from the start.

The rest is FYI, the "how" is easy.

Mulm is the dirt that settles on the bottom of a water change bucket after you have vacuumed the gravel deeply. Decant off the clear water and save the sludge mulm in the bottom. Add that to the bottom of you new tank and a little to the filter.You can also use the filter dirt also from an established filter.
