When will TANNIS go away?

I have a couple good size mopani pieces in my 36gal tank and after almost 2 years, the water is a very noticeable tea color! I don't mind it and actually knew going in that it would change the color of the water. Like Taari said, wood NEVER stops leaching tannins, it just decreases over time...

I wish my water was more coloured by tannins....love the colour and affect it has on the lights and fish colours etc.

I love the color too, but sometimes Its toooooo brown if you guys know what I mean, but having a light brown/ tea color looks really cool. Not when its like pure brown haha.

Hopefully my wood decreases more over the next few month.

I also have mopani that I boiled several times before adding, and has very noticeable tannin leaching 2 years later.

Mopani is a very long lasting tannin producer, IME 2+ years. But some old malaysian & other woods can keep it up too. I like the tea stained water but carbon or purigen will help if renewed often enough.
