Where can I get Bio-Spira???

It doesn't work my friend...sorry to burst your bubble.

Tested it in work on 3 tanks. Goldfish, African, and a "Tropical" tank.

It worked on 0 of the 3 tanks. Dont waste your money, just get a bottle of ammonia and do a fishless cycle. It's much cheaper.

MFish, could you please elaborate on your testing? All the details would be greatly appreciated.

And, by the way, when and where did you buy BioSpira (I suspect they've recently changed the content along with the name of the product)?

Thank you!

You can buy a similar product at www.drsfostersmith.com I used it but no way to know if it really helped or not. Someday I'd like to fishless cycle two tanks and use the bio booster stuff in one and use some gravel/squeezing from one of my other tanks in the other just to see if it really works.

I work at a LFS that has run a few tests on BioSpira, and we ran into a couple problems. First off, our very first batch was shipped badly, so when the stuff was poured into an aquarium the aquarium clouded so badly the fish weren't even visible and stayed cloudy for weeks. When we got a "good" batch in, the stuff still clouded the water a little bit but the tank cycled within a week and all the fish survived. The levels were visible on the test kit but were still low enough as to not be a problem for the fish.

It's also quite expensive - $9.99 for a packet to treat up to 30 gallons, more for the larger packet. I'd only use it in an emergency and be warned that if the batch isn't good you're going to have a tough time unclouding the tank.

HTH! :)

Not sure about your area, but in Canada, no distributors have picked it up yet. One LFS (the only one that heard of it) was/is looking to get a crate or two in probably in March at the earliest.

I talked to the manager at a Big Al's in Toronto and they are going to carry Bio Spira but he said that they sre having problems getting it across the border. He thinks that it will not be in until march or April.

Why bother though? You are wasting so much money and playing russian roulette! You'd never know if it is "good or bad" batch.

In my opinion it is pure garbage. I dont care if they say it works or not.

Want to know MarinelandLabs excuse? "You need to have your carbonate hardness higher for it to work properly" And in my opnion that is just B.S. And i dont think a store wants to spend 600 dollars {min order, our price} to buy this crap and not be able to know if it is a good or bad batch.

Just cycle your tanks normally, if you cant wait for a tank to finish the cycle, you obviously have no patience for the hobby. Period.

Angry,
~Mike
