I just bought some eggcrate this weekend. It is actually a light diffusing panel... eggcrate is simply the name of the style of diffuser.
I used the panels I bought to make my own undergravel filter system.
I have a 125gal indoor pond. I am having nitrate problems...so I am trying to get more biological filtration and aeration. After trimming to size,
I placed the eggcrate on 1/4 inch tubing to create space under the grid work and covered the top with nylon window screening. Add a few power heads on up lift tubes and Voila! an inexpensive UG system for a very odd ball shaped pond.
