I am curious where everybody is getting all of these cool looking fish....

The only petsores I have around here that i know of are bigger ones that have nothing but live bearers and suckers....

Does anybody know any reputable place in or around columbus ohio where i can find a more variety of fish that are properly taken care of?

Thank you in advance....

Zak

A bolivian ram will get up to 4" in length, no? WAY too big for a 10 gallon. Do some research (not at a pet store, tehy just want to sell you stuff) as to the adult sizes of fish...
As far as where to get fish, try looking in your citys yellow pages for a smaller pet or fish store. THEy tend to have more variety. Some folks buy their fish online, too, but I imagine shipping would be pricey and nerve wracking.

With the University there, I'm sure that Columbus, no small city itself, has plenty of LFS. As suggested, just check yellow pages or internet for locations. There ought to be a great variety out there!!!

4 inches is pushing the largest a Bolivian Ram can get. On average most male rams will get to 3.5 inches and females are smaller than males. A pair of Rams are okay in a 10 gallon tank, but the only other fish you could have in their are a school of tetras. Corys is a hit or miss with rams.

Jighead, nice keyhole in your avtar

I have to agree too..bolivian rams rarely get to 4" in captivity but the males willusually exceed 3" females a bit under the males.

they are fine in a 10 gal for a pair. theylike smal gravel or sand.

I actually found altispinosa at Petsmart.. and nobody was buying them so they had them on sale for $1.00.. :duh: the other LFS's had them for $8-$10..(yes I bought some and the paired up :thud: so now I have baby rams I get to try and figure out what to do with them.

If you were out my way the LFS has a tank with several of those Rams your asking about.

Columbus Fish stores

I live two hours away from Columbus but I visit their stores from time to time. I recommend Byerly's Aquarium first and Jack's Aquarium as a second. Both have web sites. Byerly's is on west Fifth Avenue and has really cool tanks.
