Does anyone in or around the Dallas,Texas area have any clippings or advice on where to obtain some. I would love to have all of my tanks planted but don't know where to start not to mention the cost to do so. " 23 tanks enough said" I have collected drift wood, fish ,and rocks but don't know how to harvest wild plants much less how to start them once I get them. I love the natural look.

What part of Dallas? Talk to the LFS, they may be able to order them for you. As far as grabbing them from the wild, not many plants will be suitable for aquariums. Most wild plants I've seen grow emersed, that is part of the plant comes out of the water. Check the cold water forums for more info but I recommend the LFS or www.aquabotanic.com

Just head on down to the local creek or lake. Bring your canoe if you have one. Pull up what interests you and carry it home in a plastic bag. I have done it and found some pretty good stuff. Most all have surviced and some have downright gotten out of hand.

Beware local laws that say you shouldnt do such a thing.

I got a bunch of plants thru forums like this one..people are always pruning cleaning planted tanks.

most of the folks I got plants from send them thru the mail.

Look at the Pay it forward plants sticky. You may be able to get some donations, and then start trading, and placing cuttings or "baby" plants (sorry, not to technical here) in your other tanks once you get them growing for you. I only have a few plants but I've had java fern reproduce very well in standard flourescent light.
