ive gotten some of my plants from the LFS (he has a really nice plant setup that isnt managed by anyone but one particular guy who knows his junk), and some from other members here that live nearby.

there are many sites hosting local fish club. searching might be your best bet or hitting up all the major forums.
Seeing as how you are in Florida, you should have a lot of options. If you don't find what you want locally, you should have exceptional luck getting plants fast and healthy from one of the aquatic plant distributors based in Florida. I have recently had excellent luck on Aquabid. Got a package deal on a huge variety of carpet and stem plants for $18 shipped. That shipment alone fully stocked my new 10g last week. Lots of folks do well with Ebay as well.
I am fortunate to have a LFS that has a great stock of plants, at least 20-30 different species at all times. Prices can be a little high, but they have sales every so often, and usually I'm lucky enough to turn the 1 or 2 that I get there into more by propagating them.
I'm still trying to track down my local club/auction details, just haven't found the right folks to get the info yet.

Where have you been looking? There are tons of places selling plants on the net. Did you try googling the word aquarium plants?
