Does anyone know if Petsmart / Petco carry replacement parts for Aquaclear filters? I think (and hope) that I simply need a new impeller for my AC110, but want to know if Petsmart / Petco stock them before heading out.

Thanks.

Thanks, I think I will have to buy the parts online as the Petsmart / Petco (and to be honest most LFS) have an almost non existent parts selection. I hope that I don't also need a new motor for it.

What part of the impeller is worn out? If it's the inside of the impeller you may need to replace the shaft as well. If you need a new motor you might as well just buy a whole new filter.

Did you try cleaning it first, it's very simply unplug and twist two parts(motor & impeller cover) as they easily come apart and very gently pull the impeller(magnetic) out of motor housing. rinse impeller carefully to make sure all the debris is gone. I then take dry Q tip and wipe out impeller housing on motor to clear any build up and residue. carefully slide impeller back into housing and carefully twist cover back together. make sure all is dry and place back onto AC filter plug back in to see if it working.

i buy a 10pk of cheap tooth brushes at the dollar store and they are excellent for cleaning impellers and intake strainers and lots of other filter parts. and they last forever but dont use for your teeth afterwards :)

Well, I got it working. Gave everything a good clean out, and it works. It is noisy though, so I think it may still need a new impeller, some more cleaning, but at least I know its working.

Now to decide whether to throw it on Craigslist / Classifieds as is, or pay for a new impeller and then sell it (along with some other bits and pieces I have lying around).
