coach_z: That's the stuff.
To help the rest of you folks out who may want to use colorquartz, this is how I rinsed it:
Buy the big orange round bucket from Home Depot and empty about 3-4" layer of your colorquartz into it. Carry it outside on grass or dirt. The black oily residue will probably stain a concrete driveway. Hook up a garden hose and turn on the water. Fill up the bucket completely, then sink the hose into the colorquartz. Now tilt the bucket a little away from you so that water will start to flow out of it. Get a flat wooden paint stirring stick and sweep it across the water surface to remove the oily residue that's accumulating on the surface. Keep doing it until there's little residue remaining. Then use the paint stick and stir the colorquartz so more of the residue will appear and float to the surface. Repeat the sweeping/stirring until there's no more residue. It should take about 15 min. to get it 95% clean. Just make sure you don't empty the whole bag into the bucket b/c it'll be really hard to stir it, and you won't get all of the residue to wash out. You can empty the washed colorquartz into a white trash bag and continue w/the next batch. You can also mix topsoil in the same bag w/the colorquartz if you're doing a soil substrate. Also double up on the bag b/c the stuff is heavy when wet and you won't like the clean-up if the bag rips.
