Where to get Sinking Driftwood?

One to two weeks my butt....I boiled some of that stuff for over a month...EVERYDAY...Tried everything to get the tannins out...Never was successful...I used it for a while, but it made the water look so dirty...

if you got 50 bux per piece you can get fake ones with fish holes(homes) built in

Can't you just use Carbon and or Micron Filtration to remove the color from the water?

I tried EVERYTHING, including bleach, carbon, boiling FOR HOURS...Just when you think that you have "most of it out", two days later the water would be the nastiest colour again...
Not all woods are the same though...I believe the "dirty" one was mangrove...The malaysian driftwood doesnt do that..

the tannens are natural & will fade somewhat in time .get used to it .I think african or south american 2 tone tan 2 light brown(the tan is light brown) from big alls is realy atractive ,even moreso than the Maylasian stuff. though if you have a maylasian bio tope use it .Its not bad. or mix its cheaper

I like the tea color that driftwood will add to the water for awhile. It's very natural looking. I think it's too bad that the tannins don't leech out of the driftwood forever. If someone sold this tea color tannin stuff in a bottle, I'd probably buy it.

Well, i decided NOT to get used to it...Yes, it would look really cool in a biotope type tank...This was not a biotope, so it just made everything look dirty...

Ah finially found a lfs with the malyshan(sp) driftwood. Got some big pieces and will soak them over the weekend and finially get my tank going soon.

I dunno if that stuff actually colors the water or not, but you could always use peat for that. I'm using peat in my amazon tank right now, I love the way it looks.

I also have some old oak logs in my turtle tank, and I wish it didn't stain the water so much...it gets hard to see the back of the tank in the 7 days between water changes.

It adds a little color to my water but I don't find it intrusive, so don't mind that much. No problem sinking. (oh the color in the photos is not from the wood but my messing with the substrate)
