Hello everyone,
I'd like to add some slate for my africans and get rid of some of my rocks. The slate looks so much nicer than what I have right now. My problem is that I can't find any anywhere! I am located outside of Winnipeg, Canada and apparently we have no slate in the viscinity  I have tried construction places and landscaping companies.
Can anyone offer any advise?

We have the same here. Landscaping supply, assuming they'll sell you a handful of sheets/rocks! A specialty roofing company might also have some, but I think landscaping supply should be option 1.

Also, E-bay

Not as bad as you might think, though it depends on how much you need and where you are in relationship to the seller. Rockartsource has some great pieces for show tanks or centerpieces.

I just went through the same thing. I know I can get slate at a landscaping supply place ouside the city but just didn't feel like driving there. I ended up going to Home Depot and buying a box of 12x12 slate tile for $10 (the tiles are about 3/8" thick), smashing it up with a hammer into roughly hand size pieces and smaller, and stacking and gluing it together with aquarium silicon into a rock structure I am VERY happy with. I'd post a picture of it but I just did it last night! I hope the fish are as happy with it as my wife and I are.

Thanks everyone so much! I am going into the city in 5 mins to buy my new aquarium. I will check the landscaping places and Home Depot there! I never knew you could buy a box of slate tile! Whoo hoo! I'll let you know what I find. You guys rock!

Well, for a thanks..you need to post some pics! LOL
