So I'm trying to plan my belated honeymoon. We know we want to go someplace tropical, with snorkeling and lots of fun stuff to do. We're looking at the all-inclusive packages, and would prefer to keep it under $1500/person, and about a 7 day stay.

But, beyond that, we're clueless. So--list places that will have good snorkeling, had other fun stuff to do, please! We don't really want to do a cruise--we'd rather spend several days in one place.

Thanks!

My parents have done 2 trips to the Dominican Republic and they loved both of them. Both sides of the island have resorts. 1 side is great for snorkeling the other is too rough. Sorry I can't quite remember which is which. My parents don't have a ton of money and managed to get there for around $1000 canadian each, so it would be an even better deal for you. Mexico and Antigua I know tend to cost a little more.

And there is always the Keys.

We went to Key West for part of our honeymoon and it was amazing. Great snorkeling all over, tropical weather, laid back. We loved it. I think the hotel ran us $1100 for the week but it was a suite so you can get less expensive arrangements.

My sister frequently gets great deals on trips to the Dominican Republic for all inclusive resorts. She goes with last minute fairs so its a bit risky but she's never paid more than $1000 for a whole week (airfare from Boston). She goes through a travel agency that charters planes.

When my friends go down to the Keys with their boat, I pack all my stuff on the boat..........Then ride down on the bike :D I love it down their.

Cozumel or Cancun. But, I'm partial to Mexico as it's close. Of course, the border towns are just... ick. More toward the center of Mexico you see some neat stuff though, and the coast is wonderous.

caye caulker, belize!! I spent 10 days down there with my family a couple years ago. awesome place. very small: 200 yards wide and half a mile long. It's not not one of those places everybody says to go to but really laid back, and if you go to Paradise Down scuba and go on the "blue hole" dive trip, they'll take you even if you aren't scuba certified and you can snorkel at all these different places all day. Really great. The hotel we stayed at was about $120/night if I recall correctly, and there were 3 of us, and the room had 2 queen beds. Food is pretty reasonable. You can get a huge lobster dinner for $15 US! But seriously Caye Caulker is the coolest place in the world.

Bora Bora....you have to see it to believe it.

(I'm secretly stealing all of these answers, too! We planned Bordeaux but somewhere island--tropical-ys sounding awful nice.)

Just wanted to pop in and say I was looking into all of these places and Belize gets great ratings for diving and snorkeling!
