I thought I've seen this before but was unable to find it. Thought it may be a good thread for newbies and posted in newbie forum but noone replied. :( If noone replies here, well then I know it isn't a good thread! :p

Where is the best position in a standard (rectangle shaped) tank for the HOB (Hang on back)type filters and for return line and outflow of canisters to get the best circulation?

When I ran a single HOB, I put it in a corner so the outflow flowed along the side and created a circular current around the tank.
As for canisters, I've read inflow at one end outflow at the other. Does this provide the best circulation?

Most "newbies" have one filter but many others run two. Feel free to comment on this (placement of one in relation to the other) also.

I plan to run two: a power filter in the middle and a cannister with the intake and return tubes at opposite ends. (Though I am a little worried this might create too much current for fish that like milder water flow.)
