Where'd all the "oldtimers" go?

A coupla months ago, there were a ton of very experienced keepers providing great feedback on questions (stocking in particular). I personally feel very fortunate to have received your advice and removed 2 plecos and shuffled my stock for better balance. Lately, I'm reading crazy stock lists and seeing no guidance given. I try my best to share what little I know, but I think that alot of the "newbies" :) would benefit from your input. So, come out of the shadows and help them like you helped me... you know who you are!

My point here folks.... is that I got great advice and the enjoyment factor was raised 10 fold. I now feel like I know what I'm doing and why. Heck, I went from 1 tank to 4 in 2 months out of the thrill of "getting it". There are alot of new folks on the site (even newer than me) lately and they are posting stock lists of oscars in 20G and only receiving headbanging smilies from other newbies. I know that school is out and the average age may be younger, but still I think alot of people need the advice of the vets. Regardless of their age, if they're on this site they want to talk about fish and hopefully learn. Plus, on a selfish note I miss being able to sponge the knowledge from the posts. Just my soapbox for tonight... :)
 
Yeah I really have enjoyed the sound advice I've received on this site. It has helped me to avoid a lot of the beginner mistakes that everyone else I know made starting out. I was so afraid of starting a tank because when I was a kid my parents killed sooooo many fish by not cycling, not using conditioner, not acclimating fish, buying way too many fish for the tank etc. So far though I've only lost fish that I knew could potentially be problems (otos) and a couple danios that had lived through cycling and were already a year old when I got them. Even my plants are doing pretty good because I learned about low light plants that would work in my newbie set up =)
