Where'd all the "oldtimers" go?

My point here folks.... is that I got great advice and the enjoyment factor was raised 10 fold. I now feel like I know what I'm doing and why. Heck, I went from 1 tank to 4 in 2 months out of the thrill of "getting it". There are alot of new folks on the site (even newer than me) lately and they are posting stock lists of oscars in 20G and only receiving headbanging smilies from other newbies. I know that school is out and the average age may be younger, but still I think alot of people need the advice of the vets. Regardless of their age, if they're on this site they want to talk about fish and hopefully learn. Plus, on a selfish note I miss being able to sponge the knowledge from the posts. Just my soapbox for tonight... :)
yep, we've tried to talk to that one...

but things happen, people have to go to work, school, famliy reunions, etc. and cant post here as often. if youve got a crudload of work to do, it could take a long time to get done, and before you know it its 10 pm

people come and go. active a lot for a while slow down and pick back up.

I remember being here back in the day (under my old screen name 'ruben') and posted here very often, and was aeven a mod in the brackish forum, but I pretty much disappeared for a few years until recently.

I'm too much of a newbie....

i would like to give advice, but the best advice i could give would be not to take my advice. i hope this helps!!!
Well, everybody still has a lot to learn.:) A few corrections will help. It is good to share your experiences and advice. I don't mind being corrected if I make mistakes.:)

I don't give out as much advice as I used to 'back in the day', after some time you just get tired of giving the same advice over and over. Thank god for Stickies. I'm more of the casual, general chit chat poster these days...with occasional advice given if it hasn't been mentioned in the post already and I feel it's important information. When you come to a point in this hobby where you're answering instead of asking questions, it's time to move on to the next level and try learning something new that you have little experience in. It's good to be the newbie sometimes.

come to think of it though, I think once the mods were chosen for AC, their postings went up.. who comes to mind... mgamer maybe... haha.

I have noticed the same thing though, I'm not gonna name any names to blow up anyones head, but there were a few names I always looked forward to hearing their input on things, and now they just don't seem to post as much.

Sometimes I feel like its easier to give someone else the ball, and have them write a nice long first post, and then add any input I may have to the situation.

or maybe I'm just lazy...
