I agree in that I, too, was able to gleen a lot of info when I first started my tanks (December, 2006). The links that were referenced were great learning tools and I appreciate the guidance I have received from a couple of folks with whom I have been in touch with through Private Messaging....this is a great forum to learn from and maybe some people, like me, are just shy about jumping in.
Where'd all the "oldtimers" go?

I'm not an oldtimer on the site, but I do have a fair bit of experience and I call it as I see it.
some old timers have jobs..well ones that sometimes limit the amt of time they can spend posting.
other times some get tired of someone who asks for advice then when they get it ..take offense to the advice..
'sometimes 'old timers' just read posts and pick ones to respond to.
some of the :newbie: pukes (kiddin) can regurgitate the info like nitrogen cycles.
others like JM must not have a life cause he ain't been here that long and lookit all the posts

some of us have moved to new endeavors..I have switchd and added marine tanks..a whole new game but man is it fun...

i will admit though that it became harder to post as much here as the school year got into the second semester. everything became more challenging, and of course there's summer spots where you ahve practice until 5 every day and then 2 games on tuesday and thrusday. by the time i would get hom on some days it would lready be 7 pm, and then id still have to do all of my homework and eat dinner.
i like answering the questions here, to be honest. as of sunday ill have been here for a year, and ive psoted 7,000 times and writen two articles (ones in the works). its been an interesting year, and i have learned so much since i started coming here in July of last year. still even now i am learning new things left and right, especially with the new invert and vivarium forums, and of course reading through advice given on threads about african cichlids (SA/CA cichlids and community fish were more of my strengths for a long time).

I have been here a long time and only post if I feel there is something relevent to say that hasn't been said before. Some of you "younger" guys seem to be on all the time and answer everything before I get a chance to read the post. I have spent my time reading and learning from everyone and have taken time away from posting to concentrated more on my tanks and working with my other hobbies. I remember some people that have given me advice in the past that seem to have disappear on the forums but just remember they will come back. Some of them are busy working on thier specialized forums, internet businesses, or other aspects of thier lives and when they have the time they will come back and post.
Take it from an old member (28 years old, lol ) there will always be someone with great advice on this forum.
