I had a small but healthy looking patch of baby's tears that is suddenly gone  I've had it for ~6 months so it should have been rooted well.

The main suspects are a BN plec & large SAE, possibly small loaches. I feed veggies a few times a week so it's not like they were starved for green food. It never looked chewed & there is nothing left at all--missing without a trace.

Any guesses as to what happened? I'm bummed :irked:

So many questions you left unanswered.

  • Size of tank
  • Light system
  • Photo period
  • Fert use
  • Co2 use
  • Water Chemistry (pH, KH, etc.)
  • Has your water company made any changes to your tap water
I can go on but I think you get the picture (but you should know that) :D

hm is usually an easy plant to grow. your bn pleco definately did NOT eat it but its possible your large SAE's did.

No, I don't really think it was a ferts/lights issue, but it's a 75g 1.5w/g T8 on ~10hrs. No CO2, pH 7-7.1, KH 2 or 3, GH 3-4. Nitrates 20, just micros dosed occasionally.

Last water change a week ago it was fine! I think it may have been dug up, it didn't melt, no roots left, nothing. I'll look in the loach caves & rotala jungle, it seems like it has to be somewhere. Plant abduction:joe:?

Well, I don't know who did it but I found a few scraps of HM floating. Maybe some food got in the clump & it was accidentally uprooted. The big SAE has been a brat lately so he's on my list anyway & the BN is kind of thrashy around food to keep the loaches away.

I planted the pieces I recovered but I have doubts it'll stay. Darn

Yeah, good idea Zig, too bad I just cleaned the canister, maybe the HOB got most of it. I may have scooped some out after trimming rotala & not noticed...:irked:
