Where's the "freshwater slacker" forum?

put up a close up of it

Males have "worming" in the cheeks, and gill plate. Like squiggly designs i believe, and the females are smooth colored. At least thats what i have read. That is why it is so hard to sex these super reds. because they all have red squiggles all over their face.

First off......THANK YOU for serving! I definitely appreciate what our military does for our country!

Great tank. I'm happy to see you have the time to share your pics and stories with us. Keep them coming.

So many dead snail shells in my tank of all sizes. And they always come back. I don't get where they come from :(

I guess my questions after the sex of the severum is how do I get rid of these **** snails? I think they hide, grow out, then get eaten my by loaches. Assassin snails?!

Clown loaches love snails. I wouldn't do anything to get rid of them. I'd be trying to cultivate them, since I know what clown loaches can do to a snail population.

thats some fresh escargo for your clown buddies :o

I guess you're right. Just makes the tank look dirty with dead shells everywhere. Everyone's been trying to get their hands on the ghost shrimp I put in there. Fast little suckers.

You *could* think of the shells as... repositories for additional beneficial bacteria. Yeah. That.

They're zombie snails! hehe....like the others have said, food for the loaches. Even with assassins you'll still have the empty shells in there. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is pick them out by hand.

That's a mean looking fish! I wish I had the space for a big tank, I'd love to have cichlids. Oh well.....maybe some day.
