I was using the separator as a separator/bubble counter.
Hence, the IN tube going into the water.

But the one problem I was having, was that the separator water would syphon back into the main(co2) bottle.

You might be able to avoid this problem by using a check valve between the two?
It seemed like it would just do it, because of the warm air(water), cooling in the main bottle at start up.

I didn't run it long enough for me to get around to figuring it all out.

IDK

People gave reasons why it was a good idea too. So I did.

I don't remember exactly what the reasons were. Something about the sugar/yeast mixture getting into the tank.
How it would do that, IDK. lol
But its obviously has happened before, to more than one person.

I started out without the separator on my 30g. But all I had at the time was snails and plants.

I started with the separator when I put co2 on the 55g. Way too much invested to kill everything over a free(cause I drank the contents and it was going in the trash) bottle, couple of drops of silicone and a foot of airline.

Never though there'd be sooo much to growing a plant in a fish tank did ya!? :nilly:

Fits that saying I heard a long time ago.

"Fish keeping isn't rocket science.... it's much more!"
